Database Administrator (CLIN X014 OCONUS)
Duties and Responsibilities: Develops data for PSO simulations and assists in the operation of Military Training computer assisted Simulations in Africa in support of individuals and African military units receiving U.S. Department of State’s African Contingency Operations Training Assistance (ACOTA) Program training. Uses detailed understanding of Combat, Combat Service, and Combat Support Doctrine to assist in the development of scenarios and databases for simulation operation in and African Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) environment. The Data Base Administrator will: provide recommendations to the ACOTA Country Manager and Senior PSO Staff Trainer regarding how to best utilize simulations and data to achieve their individual class training objectives; tests the scenarios' and databases to insure that they contain the proper level of fidelity to achieve the training objectives; tests the interfaces from the simulation to the command and control systems that the host nation troops utilize; perform pre-computer assisted exercise training prior to exercise beginning; perform as an Instructor Controller during simulation operation to assist the host nation troops in achieving the training objectives of the exercise; will incorporate applicable threat doctrine to operate as game controller; will present detailed presentations on database administration and simulations to African host nation troops; will maintain technical currency and certifications via training and self-study.
Minimum Qualifications: Data Base Administrators shall have the following education, experience, and military background unless otherwise approved in advance by the Program Director, ACOTA.
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science or other technical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) year database administration experience; or equivalent education, coursework, or certification in Information systems is required. Experience managing Military Battle Simulations used in a training environment; and directly related experience with scenario development and terrain editing for military simulations.
Training: A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems focused on Microsoft Exchange, computer hardware installation, repair, testing, and troubleshooting is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification in JANUS or J-CATS simulations,
