Peace Support Operations Senior Subject Matter Expert (CLIN X013 OCONUS)
(SME: Mortars, Communication, Medical, Logistics, as required)
Duties and Responsibilities: The Peace Support Operations (PSO) Senior Subject Matter Experts (SME) shall provide Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) soldier skills specialty instruction to individuals and African military units receiving U.S. Department of State's African Contingency Operations Training Assistance (ACOTA) Program training. Senior SME Trainers shall instruct and supervise training in Africa for African officers and their soldiers who shall deploy to PKOs. PSO Senior SMEs shall be military or civilian subject matter experts in the MOS or functional area fields they are teaching. PSO SMEs shall be recognized or and certified as a professional in the fields such as medicine, engineering, dentistry, logistics, military intelligence, veterinary medicine, security, ordnance or professional occupations relevant to task support contract and task order requirements. Senior SME Trainers are required to know and/or review and incorporate U.S. Army doctrine, United Nations, and Host Nation guidance applicable to the task assigned. Training will involve classroom and field instruction in austere environments.
Minimum Qualifications: Senior SMEs shall have the following education, experience, and military background unless otherwise approved in advance by the Program Director, ACOTA.
Experience: The PSO Senior SMEs shall have a relevant and documented blend of skills, experience, and knowledge that will allow that individual to best support the goals and tasks of the ACOTA Program.
Training: Minimum of ten (10) years of U.S. military or civilian experience in their area of expertise and have directly related experience with standard military or civilian training concepts, practices, and procedures particular to their field of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa is preferred.
