Peace Support Operations Staff Trainer (CLIN X009 OCONUS)
Duties and Responsibilities: The PSO Staff Trainers will develop POIs, lesson plans, and training support packages for collective training carried out as noted in each ACOTA Program Office (APO) task order. Training shall support the preparation of partner country battalions and brigades for deployments to and sustained operations in multinational peacekeeping operations in Africa by training African commanders and staffs in PSO command and staff operations skills and procedures. Staff Trainers shall ensure all training scenarios are based on the most current mission area information from Areas of Operation that African PKO battalions and brigades will deploy to. Training will involve classroom instruction, Peace Support Operation (PSO) Command Post Exercises, and Computer Assisted Command Post Exercise. All classes shall be taught in the training language of the Host Nation Military.
Minimum Qualifications: The PSO Staff Trainer shall have the following education, experience, and military background unless otherwise approved in advance by the Program Director, ACOTA.
Education: A minimum of a AA/AS Degree from an accredited institution
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of U.S. military operations and training experience required. The Senior PSO Staff Trainer should be a subject matter expert in at least one (1) Combat Arms, Combat Service, or Combat Service Support, U.S. Military Occupational Specialty, Branch, or Functional Area. Staff experience at battalion or brigade level is required. The PSO Staff Trainer shall have a unique blend of skills, experience, and knowledge that will allow that individual to best support the goals and tasks of the ACOTA Program.
Training: Familiar with standard military training concepts, practices, and procedures. Minimum of fifteen (15) years military operations and training experience (or civilian equivalent) required.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferably an individual with recent U.S. Military combat and/or PKO experience at the 03, 0-4, O-5, or O-6 level who has completed U.S. Military Education Command and General Staff College or equivalent. Recent OIF/OEF experiences desired. Individual having completed Military Education Level 3 or 4 (Command and General Staff College or equivalent) is preferred. Preferred language requirement of level equivalent to 3-3 for non-English speaking countries. Experience operating in areas with limited life support and in hardship conditions is preferred. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
