    Naval Postgraduate School Instructor (distance learning) Job Opening

    Teaching: Simulation & Training for Healthcare, and Technology and Simulation in Healthcare Education



    The mission of the Naval Postgraduate School is to provide relevant and unique advanced education and research programs to increase the combat effectiveness of commissioned officers of the Naval Service to enhance the security of the United States.




    • Teaching course MV4002: Simulation & Training for Healthcare and MV4003: Technology and Simulation in Healthcare Education; both are distance learning courses. The course would be for Winter and Summer Quarters of 2018, starting June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2019 with an extension option.
    • The Instructor will be provided with any existing and available course materials, lesson plans, sample syllabus, and lecture notes from previous deliveries of the course.
    • Deliver the course content during class sessions, as defined in the lesson plan and/or syllabus.
    • Review and update lecture materials and submit them to the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC)
    • Maintain office hours for a minimum of 2 hours per week through the quarter for students to receive additional one-on-one, out-of-classroom assistant.
    • Review, update, and coordinate lecture materials and submit to the TPOC
    • Assess and grade all quizzes, exams, and assignments in a timely manner and provide actionable feedback to promote learning
    • The Instructor does not need to be located in Monterey to deliver the distance learning class and can perform services at the contractor’s location.


    • 2-5 years’ experience teaching graduate level courses
    • D. in Experimental or Cognitive Psychology, Behavioral Science, Human Factors, or in a closely related academic field that facilitates cognitive learning
    • 5 years of experience working as a researcher, instructor or supervisor of human training, performance and safety in a high-risk job type
    • 3 years of experience in providing instruction to healthcare professionals both directly and via Distance Learning
    • Must have current (within the last 10 years), hands-on experience in selecting, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating simulation systems and other instructional media for healthcare training professionals including physicians, nurses, and simulation facility operators.
