Oak Grove Technologies, LLC a fast growing federal contractor is seeking an Instructional Designer with responsibility for designing distance, mobile, and instructor-led training in support of an upcoming contract with the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Employee Education System (EES).  The Employee Education System (EES) is currently challenged to produce eLearning products that meet the workforce development and continuing education needs of more than 277,000 clinical, administrative and technical employees. The Instructional Designer will work out of the Alexandria, Virginia office. Once the selected individual has proven a strong work ethic, he or she may be able to telecommute a few days a week.   • Assess a client's learning situation, expectations, resources, constraints, learning needs, learning gaps, and tasks in relation to the organization's mission and goals.
  • Implement best practices in instructional design and incorporate feedback mechanisms.
  • Conduct training needs assessment. Analyze and research the technology and infrastructure available to meet client needs. Design curricula and courseware according to instructional principles, industry-accepted instructional strategies, client objectives, and program objectives.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop learning content, including: storyboards, job aids, presentation slides, instructor and participant guides, quick reference materials, and exercises.
  • Individual will work on various client projects.


  • A minimum of 5 (five) years designing and developing highly interactive web-based learning, instructor-led and blended learning courses
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design or instructional technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Advanced knowledge all phases of the instructional design (ADDIE) model 
  • Experience with custom-designed eLearning solutions that are SCORM compliant and Section 508 conformant
  • Possess excellent writing skills with an eye for detail and consistency
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients to reach consensus within constraints of time, budget, and resources
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, HTML, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, audio recording, and video editing software
